Meet Bob Larkin

Sylvia and Bob Larkin I am a fifth generation Nevadan, born in Ely on May 17th 1953 to Charles and Darlene Larkin. I am married to Sylvia with adult children, Rick, Linda and Mary. I have resided in Sparks for the last 30 years.

My philosophy is that government cannot and should not be all things to all people; but, it does have a responsibility to offer each and every citizen fair and equitable opportunities for a fulfilling life. I strongly believe that all should serve the community which has served them so well. And in that regard, I have for many years, been extremely active in Nevada serving on numerous boards and commission.

At this time in the economic cycle, what economist call recession, the growth of our job base must be of the highest priority for our legislative leaders to work on, but not by confounding the situation with unsustainable taxes, fees, rates, and burdensome regulations. What attracts businesses to Nevada is the same thing that brought our fore fathers, limited government intervention in our lives, low taxes, and a high degree of independence.

Economic Diversification

We must continue to attract high quality companies and entrepreneurs to our state. One essential component to that is to maintain the business friendly environment that we have cultivated over the years. Projects like the Tahoe-Reno Industrial Center (TRI) are prime examples of how local government with state support is changing the mix of our economy. Congratulations to Storey County and the TRI. Washoe and Lyon counties are also pursuing diversified businesses that will add to the local quality of life. As your State Senator I will pledge to ensure that we maintain this business friendly environment.
